Should you repair your heat pump or replace?
Heat pumps may require repairs from time to time. Here are some common heat pump issues that may necessitate repair:
- Insufficient heating or cooling: If your heat pump is not providing adequate heating or cooling for your home, it could be due to a range of issues.
- Frozen coils: Heat pump coils can freeze, hindering the unit's ability to operate efficiently.
- Strange noises: Unusual sounds coming from your heat pump, such as grinding, squealing, or rattling noises.
- Inconsistent cycling: Your heat pump frequently cycles on and off or exhibits irregular cycling patterns.
- Airflow issues: Insufficient airflow, such as clogged air filters, obstructions in the ductwork, or malfunctioning blower motors can all lead to airflow problems.

Heat Pump Tax Credits & Rebates
Tax Incentives:
Starting in 2023, you could be eligible for a federal tax credit that covers 30% (up to $2000) of a heat pump cost and installation.
This tax credit is capped at $2,000 per year.
We suggest that if you are considering replacing or upgrading a variety of your heating and cooling equipment, you might want to space those projects out over time and maximize the annual incentives between now and when they expire in 2032.
